Frankfurt Tamil Sangam e.V. (FTS) is a non-profit organization based in Frankfurt, Germany, dedicated to the promotion and preservation of Tamil culture, language, and heritage. Founded in 2015, FTS is celebrating its 10th anniversary and has grown to include over 450 families, totaling more than 1,000 members.
The association’s core mission is to preserve, practice, and promote the culture, traditions, and heritage of the Tamil language, literature, history, and people. FTS serves as a central hub for Tamil-speaking individuals and families living in and around Frankfurt. It provides a communal space for cultural exchange and support, offering Tamil education, access to famous Tamil books, literary works, films, and more. The association is also dedicated to helping its members, newcomers, and students from India with integration into German society.
As a registered association (e.V.) under German law, FTS is governed by a board of 6 members, supported by an executive committee of 9 members.
Since its establishment, FTS has successfully organized numerous cultural, social, and sporting events, including celebrations of Pongal, Tamil New Year, Diwali, sports activities and Tamil Nadu Day 2024 Conference. These events foster unity among members and promote understanding and goodwill between Tamil speakers and the broader German community.
FTS aims to strengthen bonds among its members and between Tamils and the broader international population in Germany. Through its various activities, the organization fosters mutual respect, cultural exchange, and friendship while ensuring that all events comply with EU and German data protection laws, including the Bundesdatenschutzgesetz (BDSG) and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
